EWI Celebrates 30th anniversary with launch of new Strategy.
The 8th November, 10.15am marks 30 years since the official launch of the Expert Witness Institute.
During that time, so much has changed in the world of Expert Evidence. This was the subject of our 2024 Single Biggest Change Paper. This was covered and updated in our latest Podcast Episode, because that trend shows no sign of stopping.
With changes to the Guidance for the Instruction of Experts in Civil Claims due in 2027, the workforce needing to rapidly adapt to the use of Artificial Intelligence in the courts and preparation of their Expert Evidence, and new rules on Transparency and Regulated Experts being implemented in some jurisdictions and considered in others, it has never been more important for Expert Witnesses to maintain links with a vibrant, professional membership body to support their practice.
That is why, over the course of the 2021-26 Strategic Plan we have fundamentally changed as an organisation. Our core mission remains the same. But we have implemented new systems, streamlined and improved processes, and become a completely virtual operation. All of this has enabled us to invest in staff capacity and member benefits ensuring our members get the service and support that they deserve.
But nothing stands still and that’s why it is very fitting that we begin our 30th year with the launch of our new strategy taking us up to 2030. Over the last year we have completed our workforce research providing us with a robust data set which has helped us consider what more we need to do to shape our offer to the community and we have listened to members through our annual member survey to understand what more we need to do.
Working with the Board this has been fed into the plans for the next 4 years.
There will be some things you will see sooner. We are currently working on a new Learning Hub which will significantly improve the quality and accessibility of our on-demand training. But over the next year you will also see:
- Additional information, advice, and guidance
- Annual CPD journeys providing members with 20hrs of free CPD per year
- Accreditation of all CPD Activities
- Creation of a policy manifesto and further engagement with key stakeholders
- Improved links with lawyers resulting in Increased recognition and engagement from the legal community
- Development of communities of practice
- Improvements to the digital member experience
We are extremely positive about the future and what we believe we can achieve over the next strategic period.
