New EWI guidance on Judicial criticism and dealing with regulatory/professional body complaints during a case

bySimon Berney-Edwards

Expert witnesses are occasionally criticised in judgments. It is important to know how to handle this type of criticism, to use it to your advantage, and to comply with the rules. It is also important to try to obtain feedback from your instructing parties at the conclusion of the case, both to find out if you have been criticised and to be aware of potential learning points for professional development.

We have just published our new guide on judicial criticism and dealing with regulatory/professional body complaints during a case. Informed by the knowledge and experience of the EWI Board and Editorial and Training Committee, our comprehensive guide is useful for both new and experienced experts and covers the following key topics:

  • What is judicial criticism
  • Rules and Regulations
  • What to do if you are aware of criticism
  • A proportionate approach to identifying criticism
  • Dealing with a regulatory/professional body complaint during a case
  • Common pitfalls to watch out for
  • Tips for dealing with feedback and criticism
  • How we can support you

Why not start by listening to our Expert Matters Podcast on Feedback and Criticism then read through the Guide here.
