Expert witnesses can sometimes find that scrutiny extends beyond their evidence and focuses instead on them personally. An adverse comment in a judgment, a complaint by a dissatisfied litigant, hostile posts on social media, an online campaign or an approach from a journalist can all threaten an expert’s professional reputation.
This webinar will examine how expert witnesses can prepare for and respond to these situations. It will explain the legal and practical options available where allegations are false or private, reports are misused, or criticism develops into harassment.

The session will also consider how experts should deal with media enquiries and the steps that can be taken to prevent a difficult situation from escalating.

The webinar will be delivered by Nick McAleenan, Partner in the Reputation and Media Law team at Brabners, who advises individuals and organisations on defamation, privacy, harassment, data protection and crisis communications.

Training and Events - Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations received more than 50 business days prior to the event – A full refund will be given.
  • Cancellations received 26 -50 business days prior to the event – A 75% refund will be given.
  • Cancellations received 16-25 business days prior to the event – A 50% refund will be given.
  • Cancellations received less than 15 business days prior to the event – no refund will be given.

Please note, any delegates who do not attend on the day will not receive a refund.  Access to the event will be denied if payment in advance has not been made. Online events are recorded and will be made available to delegates for two years from the date of the event.

The EWI reserve the right to cancel any event with a minimum of 3 business days’ notice and will provide a full refund to delegates.
