- Application form completed and signed
- A copy of the applicant’s CV or resumé
- A professional qualification (if such exists) appropriate
to the applicant’s vocation and proof of the professional
body the applicant’s belongs to (if appropriate)
- Two satisfactory references from solicitors and/or barristers
(applicants are asked to submit three references, however, only
two are taken up).
- Training in expert witness work is preferable but not essential.
The Institute also offers membership in other categories:
- Provisional (for those who wish to become expert witnesses
but are not sufficiently experienced to qualify for individual
membership)
- Associate (for solicitors and barristers)
- Corporate (for commercial organisations)
- Professional body/association (for learned societies, associations
and similar organisations)

proof required).
- A professional qualification (if such exists) appropriate
