This seminar deals with the fundamental skills needed to write high-quality expert reports. The framework of court rules and procedure that form the context for expert reports will be explained, as will the fundamental evidential writing skills necessary to produce reports that fulfil all the requirements of the litigation process. Finally, extracts from expert reports will be discussed to highlight the differences between well and poorly drafted expert opinion in reports.

Speaker: Lynden Alexander

Lynden Alexander is a communication skills consultant who specialises in forensic communication. He leads the expert witness programme at Professional Solutions Learning and Development. He began offering training to expert witnesses in 1996 and has since trained more than 6000 expert witnesses in forensic writing and courtroom presentation skills. He presents workshops on expert witness skills for the Expert Witness Institute and other professional bodies. He is also the co-author of Writing Medico-Legal Reports in Civil Claims, now in its second edition. Before working in the field of forensic communication, he was a Eurobond and Equity Derivatives trader in the City of London.
